Cranberries are also known for their anti-inflammatory properties and thus help in preventing chronic and life threatening diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, ulcerative colitis and various kinds of cancers. They are also rich sources of antioxidant pigments that provide blue, purple and red pigments to fruits and vegetables. These antioxidants in turn inhibit the development of arthrosclerosis, cancer and other degenerative diseases.

For maximum health benefits, you should choose fresh cranberries which have a fresh, plump appearance and a deep red luster. Do not go in for sticky, discolored berries. Treating yourself with refreshing cranberry apple juice is a delight to taste and a boon for health. For a healthful smoothie, you just need to add ½ cup of cranberries, ½ lemon juice and a handful of grapes and 2 apples cut into wedges. Also, dried cranberries can be added to breads or muffins and also to hot oatmeal and cold cereals. Thus, enjoy the taste and numerous health benefits of cranberries.
