Health Benefits of Apple
Everyone has heard of the famous saying-“An apple a day keeps the doctor away” but very few of us pay heed to it. Being a rich source of phytochemicals, apple consumption is linked with a reduced risk of cancers, cardiovascular disease, asthma and diabetes. Apples consist of strong antioxidants which in turn inhibit cancer cell proliferation, decrease lipid oxidation and lower cholesterol. In addition, the antioxidant activity of apples also helps in preventing age related problems like the loss of memory. Thus, eating an apple every day can make you more wise and alert.
It has been recently found that an apple a day can keep Alzheimer’s away. According to a research, a group of chemicals found in apple can protect the brain from the type of damage that triggers neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinsonism. Apples can also be used to cure and treat cholera as they contain elements which have a protective and a therapeutic value. Many people suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease (COPD) which leaves a person gasping for breath. People suffering from such problems should make it a point to regularly have an apple as apple contains flavonoids which help in improving lung functioning thereby reducing the incidents of coughing and breathlessness.
Eating of apple is also associated with a reduced risk of lung cancer, bladder cancer, stroke and heart disease. The flavonoids present in apples help in the optimal functioning of the heart by keeping one’s cholesterol and blood pressure in check. In addition to numerous health benefits, an intake of apple is also associated with the overall health of one’s skin. It is believed that eating of apples can prevent skin wrinkling and skin damage and can thus help you remain young and vibrant forever. When a natural and a healthy way to ensure beauty is available, why should one spend a bounty on cosmetic surgeries which might have harmful side-effects? Thus, one should make it a point to regularly eat an apple so as to remain healthy, fit and beautiful.
