Good Ways of Rewarding Children

October 1, 2008

If your child does something good, either academically or morally; you should always reward him so that he gets the required encouragement of keeping up the good work. That’s the reason you must have seen children getting stars and good remarks in their notebooks when they perform well in their school. Reward does not necessarily imply some material gift; it can be encouragement in any form so that the child feels his good work has been appreciated. The immature and sensitive mind of children finds these rewards as great modes of incentives and believe it or not- these rewards or simple encouragements play a vital role in shaping up the character and personality of a child. A child frequently rewarded for his good deeds would grow up into a confident and a morally strong child; while a child neglected would suffer from indecision and emotional fluctuations. Read below and find out some effective ways by which you can encourage and reward your child so that he develops into a healthy human being.

Rewarding a child is not only an act of encouragement, but is also a way of helping them differentiate between good and bad deeds. If a child has done extremely well in academics, then you should reward him with something he likes and cherishes. It need not be something expensive but can be according to the like of the child like a toy, books, stamps, or any such small but motivating gift. Another creative and effective way of rewarding your child when he does anything good is to keep some creatively made trophies, medals, certificates and even paper stars at home. Give it to them on their every good deed and it actually has the power to highly encourage and motivate the child. You can also take your child out for a movie, picnic or any adventurous tip on his doing something good. If nothing else, a small pat on his back or a small but powerful word of appreciation too has the magical power of acting as an incentive for a child.

All these rewards help a great way in motivating and encouraging the child to move in the right direction of life.
