Health / Funky versus a Fit Footwear
Funky versus a Fit Footwear
Are you sacrificing your health because of fashion? It has often been found that women, especially girls in particular, go in for fancy, trendy and high heeled shoes and sandals to attain a cool and a happening look. However, one should realize that this small act of vanity can lead to serious health problems in future as it has been found that small or oversized shoes can lead to serious problems like bunions, corns, calluses and spinal disorders.
High heels are the biggest factor leading to foot problems in women. If one has a craze for fashion and wears high heels or shoes that are too narrow or too short, one runs the risk of developing serious foot problems. Tight shoes and heel lead to toenail problems as the latter faces constant pressure which in turn can lead to nail fungus and ingrown toenails. If one wears tight heels all the time, one also runs the risk of tightening and shortening of one’s Achilles tendon which is the strong, fibrous chord connecting one’s calf muscle to one’s heel bone. A growth of nerve tissue known as Morton’s neuroma or plantar neuroma can occur in one’s foot as a result of wearing tight fitting shoes. This in turn causes sharp, burning pain in the ball of one’s foot accompanied by stinging or numbness in the toes. Other problems which can occur are those of hammertoe (unnatural bending of one’s toes), corns and calluses. All these problems occur over a period of time and wrong kind of footwear also puts a person in risk for long term spinal disorders.
Fashion is fine in its place but one should not sacrifice one’s comfort and health in order to make a false impression. Even the most simplest and comfortable kind of footwear can constitute fashion as fashion does not necessarily imply funky and trendy stuff. One can create one’s own fashion and for that only confidence and the right kind of attitude is needed. So, don’t sacrifice your health and fitness and choose the right footwear which is of proper fitting and is made up of good, quality material.
