Foods That Heal
Did you know that along with satiating our hunger, certain food items can add a healing touch in one’s life? Various nutrients present in various food items aid in preventing various diseases like heart problems, diabetes and many other life-threatening disease. It is thus that certain food items are labeled as “super-foods” due to their super effective quality.
Avocado: A fruit with lots of fat and calories- this fruit is actually a super healing food. Surprised!!! Very few of us can imagine that such a fattening food could have any positive quality. However, avocado is considered as a healing food- particularly for people with diabetes and heart problem- as they are a great source of folate and potassium along with containing high amount of fiber and monounsaturated fat.
Parsnips: Usually considered as odd and ugly looking, these vegetables have an attractive nutritional profile. They are good sources of folate, fiber, and phenolic acids which help in preventing cancer. In addition, they help in lowering the risk of heart disease, decrease the risk of strokes and stabilizes blood sugar levels.
Beans-Legumes: Extremely beneficial component in one’s diet as they are high in complex carbohydrates, protein and dietary fiber, low in fat, calories and sodium and completely cholesterol-free.
Herbs: Herbs are not only meant for adding spice and flavor in one’s food as they also possess various healing powers. Herbs are a good form of natural and alternative remedy which helps in preventing and treating various problems.
Foods like onions, olive oil, garlic, oranges, flax, wheat barn, cabbage, beans and broccoli- all come under the category of “super foods” due to their various healing powers. Thus, indulging in well balanced and healthy eating can prove beneficial in keeping you healthy and fit. Eat a proper diet and you won’t need any miracle to enhance your health as healing super-foods are available to solve all health related problems.
