Foods that Fight Cancer

If you dread with the simple mention of life snatching disease- cancer, then don’t be afraid as now you can eat and ward off cancer with some invaluable cancer fighting foods. Diet is something which is dual faceted as while its unhealthy consumption can harm you, it is diet only with some healthy food items which can help in the enhancement of health through some cancer fighting properties. Such food items contain antioxidants which help in neutralizing the damage caused by free radicals and they also contain some powerful phytochemicals to aid in the overall well being of a person.

The primary food item which is gaining a lot of importance due to its cancer fighting property is Avocados. They are rich in glutathione which is a powerful antioxidant. Similarly, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower help in combating breast cancer by converting cancer converting estrogen into a more productive variety. Broccoli and sprouts can also help in dealing with other type of cancers like those of colon and rectal. Carrots have innumerable health benefits which also extend to providing protection against a wide range of cancers like lung, mouth, throat, intestine, prostate and breast. Flax is again an extremely valuable food item due to its various health advantages which also includes providing shelter from cancer, especially colon cancer.

Fruits like oranges, grapefruits and other citrus ones contain monoterpenes which help prevent cancer by sweeping carcinogens out of the body. According to research, consumption of green and yellow leafy vegetables is generally associated with lower levels of stomach cancer. It is due to this reason that papaya which is usually called as a “nutritional masterpiece” plays a vital role in providing protection against cancer. In addition to fruits and vegetables, certain spices like garlic and turmeric are also very effective due to their various healing characteristics.

If eating well can provide protection even from the deadly disease of cancer, then why should one ignore such important food items? Include them in your diet and experience a happy and a healthy life.
