Foods that Cause Gout

Gout can be prevented by keeping a check on your diet. This article will provide information on some of the food items that can cause or aggravate the problem of gout.

People who suffer from gout should avoid food items that are rich in purines. Thus, one needs to limit non-vegetarian food items, especially organ meats. Reducing intake of meat, especially liver, kidney and heart can help in reducing the chances of a gout attack. Similarly, one should limit one’s intake of seafood, especially items like sardines and shrimps as they can lead to gout.

Along with meat and seafood, one must also limit intake of alcohol. This is because, according to research, alcohol has a tendency to trigger gout. Similarly, one should also avoid mushrooms, peas, and creamy sauces. Also, you should avoid yeast and sweetbread.

After having looked at the various food items that can lead to gout, let’s look at some food items that are beneficial for the natural prevention and treatment of this problem. You need to have a nutritious and a well balanced diet.  A diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables is extremely beneficial.

Have fresh fruits rich in vitamin C like cherries, oranges, and pineapples. Similarly, green leafy vegetables are beneficial.

Along with the above given food items, you also need to increase your water intake and keep your body well hydrated. Along with water, fresh fruit juices and hot drinks are also beneficial.

Above given are food items that are harmful and beneficial for gout. One should thus take care of one’s diet to naturally prevent and treat the problem of gout.
