This article intends to clarify things so that you can dispel the shadows of doubt with clear facts and theories.

AIDS or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is a medical problem associated with damage of immune system and the body’s defense mechanism against diseases. This problem is caused by the virus HIV that infects the cells of the human immune system, weakening it and making it susceptible to various infections and ailments. Since AIDS is a condition of the weakening of the immune system, symptoms are often displayed only once the body starts getting infected and ailed easily.

There are many myths prevalent regarding the mode of transmission of this disease. Many people think that AIDS can be transmitted via mere touch and thus they try to remain away from people infected with HIV, making the latter appear as ‘untouchables’. However, this is a myth and medical science has proved that there are primarily three ways by which this disease can be transmitted. These causes are given below:

If you have a sexual contact with a person who is infected with HIV, then there are chances of your getting infected. Similarly, if you expose your body to blood or needles contaminated with HIV, then you can acquire this infection. Lastly, this disease is also seen as being hereditary and children of affected parents are at a higher risk.

It is thus necessary to be aware of the facts of AIDS so that one can act rationally and can also prevent oneself from this ‘dreaded’ problem.
