January 15, 2009

Exercises are necessary and beneficial for people of all age groups, be it children, adults or old people. When a person crosses the landmark of 50 years and celebrates his golden birthday, there is often an acceptance of age related problems.

However, don’t think that diseases and ailments are a necessary part of aging up; they can be easily avoided. Here comes the important of exercise and keeping yourself active. It not only helps in enhancing your strength, immunity and overall health, but also helps in retaining your youthful glow, vigor and energy for a longer time. Given below is the importance of exercise with focus on exercises for people above the age of 50.

A 50 old person who exercises regularly is more energetic and healthy than a 20 or 30 year old couch potato. Setting a healthy exercise regime from the beginning itself pays huge rewards in one’s later years. With regular exercise, you get a stronger heart and healthy lungs, along with high immunity and energy. The result is that you easily ward off problems often associated with aging.

Here are some exercises which can be helpful for people above 50. Walking is the best. It does not stress the joints and the intensity of this workout is also controlled. Go for a stroll with your friends and as a result, you not only exercise but also socialize, remain active and also reconnect with the healing powers of nature. You can also indulge in swimming for the overall workout of the body and also in some other mild aerobic exercises to remain fit and active. The kind of exercise you choose depends entirely upon your endurance and stamina. The main point is to remain active and you’ll find your cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar- all under control.
