Excessive Daytime Sleepiness

People suffering from excessive daytime sleepiness often tend to take frequent naps during day time. They feel lethargic and inactive and also suffer from concentration lapses.
Thus, a child suffering from excessive daytime sleepiness will be seen often yawning and feeling sleepy in class. This in turn has a negative effect on one’s performance.
Excessive daytime sleepiness not only leads to frequent episodes of sleepiness and gradual dip in performance, it also has a negative effect on one’s behavior.
People with excessive daytime sleepiness are seen more irritable and cranky than their counterparts. In addition, such people also suffer from sudden bouts of depression and behavioral changes. Also, such people lack motivation and are unable to give their cent percent in their personal or professional life.
Excessive daytime sleepiness is usually a neurological disorder. It can be caused by some problem in the central nervous system. In addition, excessive daytime sleepiness can also be a side effect of certain drugs or medications.
Certain medical problems like sleep apnea lead to lack of proper sleep and this in turn leads to a person often feeling lethargic and sleepy during the day time.
Excessive daytime sleepiness is a problem which has many drawbacks. Not only does it affect your performance and efficiency, it can also make you vulnerable to accidents. This is because people suffering from excessive daytime sleepiness cannot be considered as safe drivers and they have a higher risk of accidents.
It is necessary to understand the problem of excessive daytime sleepiness to effectively overcome it.
