Eat Tomatoes for a Healthy You
If you want to look and feel healthy, eat tomatoes. This is no magical formula in a distant fairy land. But instead, this theory has popped up after thorough scientific research which has proved that inclusion of tomatoes in our daily life is the key towards healthy living. Given below are some ways by which tomatoes can enhance the health of your mind and body.
The lush red color of tomatoes is not only appealing to the eye, but also beneficial for the body. The red pigment in tomato contains lycopene which is a powerful antioxidant which helps in fighting cancer. Lycopene is a powerful inhibitor of lung, breast and endometrial cancer cells and thus you should choose only those tomatoes which are red in color for maximum health benefits. Nicotinic acid present in tomatoes helps in reducing blood cholesterol thereby preventing ailments of heart. Along with keeping your heart healthy, tomatoes also help in treating congestion of liver along with helping in dissolving gallstones. Similarly, tomatoes are a good source of vitamins C and K and they thus help in preventing hemorrhages along with boosting up your immunity. They also contain potassium and folic acid.
Along with helping in boosting up your health, tomatoes are also good for your skin. It is a blood purifier and regular consumption of tomatoes can help in improving skin texture and color. Why not then eat those lovely red tomatoes to gain that red color on our cheeks? Moreover, it is a natural antiseptic and thus provides protection against infections too.
Tomatoes are usually a common ingredient of all dishes. The good thing is that tomatoes don’t lose any of their nutritional quality when cooked. Thus, if you don’t like fresh tomatoes, you can use canned tomatoes, tomato sauces and purees and cook it to gain its benefits.
