Drawbacks of Fizzy Drinks
Every one of us is aware of the certain drawbacks of drinking alcohol and hard core drinks. But did you know that your favorite can of coke or any fizzy drink for that matter can prove unhealthy for your body? Non-alcoholic drinks too are under scanner due to their harmful effects. Unfortunately, its popularity is on a rise, especially among children and teens, due to their enticing advertisements and also due to its taste satisfying quality. However, we need to choose health over taste and thus all those fizzy drinks lovers should read below to find out how and why fizzy drinks are being considered as “unhealthy”.
The major drawback that is associated with intake of fizzy drinks is that it can harm and destroy our teeth, especially those of young children. This is because fizzy drinks are high in sugar which in turn contributes to tooth decay. Moreover, acidic drinks also erode the enamel on the teeth. Also, by drinking these sweetened drinks, you are not adding on to your health or nutrient levels as they simply provide ‘empty calories’ and no substantial healthy nutrient. Thus, you have the problem of ‘sweet tooth’ in majority of children who simply pick up a can of coke at a frequent level. Thus, the major concern with drinking fizzy drinks is the dental concern. Along with tooth and gum disorders, too much of sweetened fizzy drinks can lead to weight gain. Moreover, according to research, the empty calories of these drinks are also leading to other problems like irritability, loss of appetite, poor weight gain and diarrhea. To add on to the disadvantages, there is a new study which suggests that fizzy drinks intake can be linked with metabolic problems which in turn can lead to heart attacks, strokes and diabetes. Looking at growing number of studies on sweetened soft-drinks and their highlighted health hassles due to its intake, you should limit and reduce your intake of fizzy drinks to lead a healthy life.
