Do you find it hard to say no
Outright refusal is not a part of some people’s psychological make-up. Especially for women, the implicit submissiveness that goes with this mindset could lead to exploitation by different kinds of people- from little children to neighbours to lustful men. But don’t panic now! Here are some wonderful and smart ways that can help you to cope up with situations.
It is common practice among women to take occasional help from neighbours. Sometimes, there is a sudden requirement of milk, sugar or some other household items and it is not possible to get it from the market at short notice. It is okay and, most of the time, such assistance is reciprocal. Mostly, it is a harmless and welcome situation, and indicates goodwill and a healthy neighborly relationship. But sometimes, the neighbour become the parasite and due to the habit of borrowing and repeatedly asking for such help becomes a pain in the neck. As a housewife, one must sense this in time, and start declining by saying ‘no’ till a clear message is given that such requests are not welcome any more.
Always be careful not to become a tool in the hands of your friend, with her using you as a medium for advancing her own interests. Sense it and say ‘no’ to such demands. Some selfish and cunning friends try to palm off their work to you thinking you are a simpleton. Do not be fooled by them.
Do not let a friend become a parasite on you for anything, and do not allow your friend to dominate you. Always be prepared to say ‘no’ in such situations.
It is always better to say ‘no’ to people who ask for money except for small amounts of a few rupees once in a while when a sudden or unexpected situation crops up.
