Discussing about sex with your daughter

February 3, 2009

In India despite a wide- scale popularity of technologies like e-mails and texts, sex is still a taboo subject between parents and teenage daughters due to its social culture which prevents subjects related with love making.

In a survey conducted, it has been found that every third parent found it hard to discuss sex –related issues with their teenagers. The poll also revealed that almost one in seven parents never talked about puberty, finding it as a difficult subject to carry on the discussion. They like keeping these topics under cover. The GSA survey founded that fifth of parents never talk about smoking with their daughters. 39 percent of parents avoid discussions relating to sex and 15 percent avoid talking about puberty relating issues.

But it was also discovered that today’s mother found it easier to talk to their daughters on these matters than they did with their own parents when they were young. the advent of text messaging and email had brought many mothers and daughters close by making the conversation less formal when it comes to sex related issues. Isn’t that great news for everyone? There has been a great shift in one generation. There is much more closeness and communication now in relationship than it used to be in past years.

So even if you are thinking to talk about these crucial issues with your teenagers, then instead of pondering over them-just talk to them in fresh open air. Keep the conversation friendly and unwrapped so that your child can gain a lot from conversation.

Mind it that it is very important for every parents to discuss with their daughters issues relating with binge drinking, ways for boosting their self-esteem and sex, puberty. So stop thinking and start talking.
