Dieting during Pregnancy
When a woman is pregnant, she needs to become more cautious and particular about the food she eats as she not only eats for herself but also for her fetus. In today’s figure conscious world, everyone wants to have a perfect figure and for this women adopt to lifestyle changes and dieting.
However, the question whether dieting is harmful or helpful during pregnancy is an important question and this article will talk about it.
According to medical science, being overweight can be associated with certain complications in pregnancy. However, this is not a hard and fast rule as there are various obese women who have a safe and healthy pregnancy.
Also, if you have to lose weight, you should make an effort before and after pregnancy, instead of undertaking dieting during pregnancy. The point to be noted is that even if you have to lose weight, the answer to it is not dieting.
Instead of depriving your body and your growing fetus from essential nutrients, you should focus more on living a healthy lifestyle throughout your life.
There are certain birth defects which are associated with the cause of dieting during pregnancy. This is because when you are pregnant, you have to focus more on eating healthy and a nutritious diet so that you cater to the demands of your body and your growing fetus.
It has thus been found that women who diet during pregnancy deprive their fetus from essential nutrients and often lead to an increased risk of neural tube defects. In addition, your child may also be born malnourished or underweight.
Thus, you should eat a healthy and a well balanced diet when pregnant instead of going on dieting and depriving yourself from essential nutrients. In addition, you can cut down on intake of fatty and junk food but never compromise on a nutritious diet because healthy eating is extremely important during pregnancy.
