Debunking medical myths–read them
We all live our life by believing some myths and but can anyone really tell how much true they really contain? Here are some myths written below related to holidays and winter season, just read them out and also the real fact behind them.
Many parents believe that when their children are given a drink containing sugar, their children become hyperactive. But that’s not at all the truth. You will be surprised to read that there have been 12 studies carried out the same belief, which has proved that sugary drinks, sweets and chocolates have no relationship with hyperactivity among kinds. So don’t say ‘no’ whenever your kids ask a chocolate candy from you!
With Christmas and New Year approaching, many people start wearing hats in the cold weather owing to the strongly held belief that we lose 40-45 percent of our body heat through our head. However, there is nothing special about the head and heat-loss. This is 100 percent false belief and nothing else. So pay no need to the above belief, if your old granny asks you to do that!
Many people go by the rule of not eating at night thinking that they won’t get fat by doing that. But believe me, it’s all hogwash. The simple truth is that the people put on more weight when they consume more calories than they are able to burn. Other reasons for getting obese or weight gain are indulgence in high calorie foodstuffs, low exercising patterns and junk food habits. So make sure you keep a good check on them.
It is also believed that suicide in winter holidays increases many folds. It has been proved that while the holidays may be difficult time for some, but that does not confirm the belief that suicides gets increased in holiday season.
