From being a mode of making new friends, internet has reached a higher level as people are now engaging themselves in the concept of cyber dating or online dating. Though it seems time saving and effective, online dating can pose various dangers which one has to be careful of.

In the anonymous world of online chatting and dating, it becomes very easy for anyone to pose an ultra-cool image. Moreover, people hide their marital status and masquerade as handsome bachelors despite having a wife or being a divorcee. Similarly, women get into the habit of hiding their actual age and weight which in turn leads to a lot of false hopes and dreams. The problem lies in the proper judging of a person without actually meeting him face to face. Thus, many people get cheated by this medium leading to numerous heart-breaks and depression. While you may you have been lucky in this business, that luck cannot be guaranteed for everyone as there exist a lot of bad apples in this business of online dating.

Apart from the dangers of people hiding truth from their partners, the dangers of online dating can take an uglier form also. It has been found that many women run scams against men on the net in order to make money. Similarly, online dating can also take the ugly form of sexual abuse. Thus, it becomes very important for a person to be on his guard while engaging in the phenomenon of online dating. One should never be hasty and should avoid divulging one’s personal information on the net. Online dating can be fun but its ugly side can shatter a person. Thus, it is essential to weigh the pros and cons of this method before blindly believing in it.
