A young child who learns to walk for the first time is susceptible to various injuries. When a child begins to crawl or walk, there is an increased tendency in him to explore the world which puts him in the risk of injuries and accidents. Thus, as a parent one needs to take extra care about the safety and well-being of the child to minimize injuries which are generally associated with the growing up stages of a child. Children love to play and this can put them into risk of injuries like cuts, wounds and even fractures. However, due to fear of injuries, one cannot stop the healthy development of a child for which playing is equally important as studying. Thus, one should be prepared to deal with minor injuries but if a fracture occurs, one should immediately consult a doctor. Active toddlers who are about 15 to 17 months old generally become adventurous and tend to experiment with paints, clay and any item which they might find at home. Thus, as a parent you should ensure that your house does not consist of sharp and explosive things which might harm your child. Moreover, encouraging your child to paint his desires with natural colors is advisable over artificial ones which might lead to rashes and allergies. Young babies have a habit of putting any thing they find in their mouth. This can lead to serious dangers like poisoning if your house has open medicines and sharp things in the child’s vicinity.
The most common injury threat which your child might face is that of the unprecedented accidents of bathroom. Many children face the risk of drowning in buckets and bath-tubs when left unsupervised by any adult. Thus, as a parent you should never leave your young child alone in the bathroom as it can lead to serious dangers. There are many common injuries which are associated with the growing up of a child.
