Cervical Cancer
The word ‘cancer’ itself leads to shivers down the spine. However, cancer is a reality and one needs to face it bravely rather than running away from it. Cervical cancer is the cancer of the uterine cervix and afflicts women in particular. Like all cancers, cervical cancer progresses slowly from normal cervical tissue to precancerous one to finally an invasive cancer.
While the spread of cervical cancer to other parts of the body is rare, it is possible and in rare cases your cervical cancer can spread to the lungs, liver, vagina and bladder. Cancer of any kind needs to be treated on time, especially in its early stages. Given below are some causes and symptoms associated with cervical cancer.
You might be curious to know about the factors which lead to cervical cancer. Well, here they are. Early sexual contact or an initiation of sexual activity at an early age is one cause of cervical cancer. Similarly, living an amoral life and having multiple sexual partners also increases your risk.
Cigarette smoking, intake of birth control pills, and infection by human papillomavirus are other factors which lead to cervical cancer. Genital wart virus infection or previous vaginal cancer also increases your risk. After being aware of the factors leading to cervical cancer, let’s look at the various symptoms associated with this problem. One of the most common symptoms displayed by women afflicted with cervical cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding.
This is not bleeding which is associated with normal process of menstruation. Similarly, this problem can also lead to abnormal vaginal discharge. If you display these symptoms, then you should get yourself checked by a doctor to get the problem treated and cured in its early stage before it attains serious consequences. There are various kinds of treatments available and they depend upon the age and preference of the patient.
