snoringAre you getting sleepless nights due to the loud snoring of your partner? Many people snore at night and often trouble the sleep of their partners. However, to get rid of snoring, you must know its various causes.

Also, snoring can be an indicator of some underlying medical problem and thus, one should not take it very lightly. This article will throw light on some common causes of snoring.

While both men and women can snore, snoring, as a problem, is more common in men. There can be various medical, health as well as lifestyle problems and factors that can lead to the problem of snoring.

To begin with, snoring can be caused due to cold and sinus problems that clog your airway. Certain allergies and reactions can also block your nasal passage and lead to the problem of snoring. Similarly, problems like asthma and enlarged tonsils can lead to snoring.

Snoring can be hereditary. If you are overweight or have excessive fat tissue in the trachea, then you are at a higher risk of snoring.

Snoring is also related with alcohol consumption. People who drink a lot tend to snore more and louder than their counterparts. Similarly, smoking too can lead to the problem of snoring.

The way you sleep or your position during sleeping also plays an important role in causing snoring. For example, your chances of snoring are higher if you sleep on your back.

Along with the above causes, snoring can also be caused by some underlying medical problems. Low levels of thyroid hormone, nasal problems and inflammation of nostrils and nose are few such problems. In addition, snoring can also be an indication of an underlying respiratory problem of sleep apnea.

Thus, you must understand the various causes of snoring to effectively prevent and treat it.
