Causes of Sleep Talking
Do you often get to hear from your partner of the various kinds of stuff you talk of in your sleep? Do you refuse to believe them since you remember nothing about what of spoke in your dreams? However, you need to believe them as sleep talking is a reality and a kind of sleep disorder in which the person affected usually doesn’t remember anything that he said during his sleep. Let’s look at this problem in detail.
Many people, children in particular, are in the habit of talking in their sleeps. This is not a serious medical condition but still it needs to be treated as you wouldn’t like your partner’s sleep to be disturbed due to your constant muttering in sleep. Also, it can lead to revealing of some personal and secret information which you wouldn’t have disclosed in your normal senses. Sleep talking can range from utterance of some sounds to long and proper talking and speeches. Let’s now look at the various causes behind the problem of sleep talking.
Sleep talking is usually associated with some kind of psychological problem, more towards anxiety disorders. Thinking about a particular thing throughout the day and being tended about it can lead to the problem of sleep talking in people. Apart from some underlying psychiatric problems, stress and anxiety, there are also certain medical conditions that can lead to the problem of sleep talking. These include problems like obstructive sleep apnea, REM and even sleep walking.
Having any kind of disruption to your sleep schedule also makes you vulnerable to sleep related disorders. Thus, you need to understand the cause behind your problem of sleep talking and then take adequate steps and treatments to overcome this problem. Usually, reducing your stress, tension and anxiety levels, following a proper sleeping schedule and avoiding intake of drugs and alcohol can help in reducing your problem of sleep talking.
