Causes of Heart Palpitation
You must have often noticed your heart pounding and racing after running miles. However, if these palpitations occur at any time of the day and at frequent intervals, then you must get it consulted by a doctor. Heart palpitation is a problem and can be caused by various reasons. Given below are some causes and symptoms associated with the problem of heart palpitations.
Irregular or forceful beatings of the heart are refereed to as heart palpitations. There are various causes which can lead to these kinds of palpitations; some are common and normal, while others require medical attention. The most common thing that can lead to palpitation is exercise. As mentioned before, when you run miles or exercise a lot, your heart beats faster than usual. However, these beatings of the heart last only for a short time and then return to normal. Similarly, when you are stressed or anxious, you tend to palpitate.
Other factors which can cause heart palpitation include caffeine or nicotine intake, use of diet pills, overactive thyroid, anemia, low levels of oxygen in the blood and can also occur due to some heart disease. They can result from abnormal heart rhythms which are also known as arrhythmias. Arrhythmias lead to heartbeats which are slow, rapid or irregular. When you get a sensation of forceful heartbeat, then it can be caused by premature contraction in which heartbeat occurs earlier than normal.
Similarly, abnormalities in the atria can also lead to the problem of heart palpitations. Whatever be the reason apart from stress and exercise, you should get it checked from a doctor. Also, immediate medical attention should be taken if you feel frequent extra heartbeats, new or different palpitations, high pulse, or if you suffer from chest pain, shortness of breath, unusual sweating or dizziness.

Hi! Honestly, I’ve been browsing about heart palpitation for 2-3 days already and been suffering from this matter for a month now. Due to this unexplanable situation, my sleeping time has been affected. it’s been a month now that I dont have enough sleep cause by a frequent palpitation. Though I’m running 4months in my pregnancy but I think it doesnt mean that this is one of the normal symptoms. I always tried to use a stopwatch whenever I palpitate and it is not normal. As far as I know, a normal palpitation of pregnant woman or any human being especially after exercise will only last for a few seconds or 2minutes as maximum then back to normal heart beat. But my case is different. I’m experiencing my palpitation for 4-5minutes every after 15-20minutes in a day. Now, my question is: In this kind of situation, would I be already suffering from a heart disease or the blockening of air flow in my heart?
As to recall, my family has a history of heart problems such as HIGHBLOOD PRESSURE and other heart failure problems. Do you think I also inherit the same but already in a serious case?
Please do reply to me urgently.
Thank you so much. GOD BLESS..
