Causes of Dizziness
If you suddenly feel the world spinning around you, then you must get yourself examined to find out the cause behind your dizziness. This article will throw light on some common causes that can lead to a person feeling giddy and dizzy.
Before listing the various causes of dizziness, let’s first look at few different meanings of dizziness. There are times when people feel lightheaded and they call this feeling as dizziness.
This usually is a result of a dip in blood pressure and because of general weakness. Usually, dizziness is refereed to a condition in which a person feels giddy and unstable and there is a feeling of his passing out. This feeling of whirling is termed as vertigo and there are various causes which can lead to this condition.
As mentioned above, dizziness can be a result of low blood pressure which in turn can be caused by various underlying problems like anemia, exhaustion and general body weakness due to some infection or ailment. High blood pressure too can lead to the problem of dizziness.
The problem of vertigo can occur due to some disruption or problem in the balance mechanism of the inner ear. Our inner ear is responsible for the balance mechanism of the body and any problem in it like an inflammation can lead to dizziness. Meniere’s disease is another problem of the inner ear which can lead to the problem of vertigo or dizziness.
People who have the problem of migraine can often suffer from the feeling of dizziness. In addition to the above given causes, dizziness can also be caused as a side effect of certain medications and can also be because of some neurological disorders like cervical spondylosis. Also, anxiety disorders and panic attacks can be responsible for dizziness.
