Causes of Bleeding during Pregnancy

Bleeding or even spotting during pregnancy raises extreme fear and anxiety in a woman’s mind. After all, bleeding during pregnancy can be a matter of serious concern and definitely requires medical attention. However, it is always a safer bet to know about the various reasons which could lead to bleeding or spotting during pregnancy.

Vaginal bleeding during the first three months of pregnancy often complicates many pregnancies. However, any bleeding during the second and third trimester is abnormal and needs immediate medical attention. True and pure emergency is if you have bleeding after the 28th week of your pregnancy. It complicates many pregnancies and can also lead to fatal consequences. It can even lead to the death of the womb and even the mother.

Thus, the first thing you need to do is to report to your doctor. Heavy bleeding during late pregnancy can be an indicator of a problem with the placenta. Vaginal bleeding during pregnancy can be an indicator of placenta previa and might require a cesarean section along with other medical attention. When a pregnant woman spots some signs of blood, the first thing that comes to mind is about the horrid thought of miscarriage. While vaginal spotting is surely one of the signs of miscarriage, there are also other reasons which might lead to spotting. According to reproductive health experts, there are many reasons apart from miscarriage that can lead to vaginal spotting.

These can include a possible yeast infection, urinary tract infection, bacterial vaginosis or hemorrhoids.  Some sort of cervical infections and even unstable hormones can be the causes behind your vaginal spotting. However, when pregnant, bleeding can be a serious cause of concern as it definitely implies some sort of internal problem in the body which must be immediately reported and treated to prevent unwanted consequences.
