Causes and Symptoms of Stomach Infections
There are many times when we experience a sudden onset of pain and cramps in our abdominal region, followed by loose motions and diarrhea. This is a typical case of stomach infection and there are various factors that can lead to it. This article will provide information on some of the common symptoms and causes of stomach infections.
As mentioned above, stomach pain, cramping, and diarrhea are some of the main symptoms of stomach infections. Other symptoms include nausea, vomiting, acidity, and even onset of fever.
Since stomach infections lead to frequent watery motions, the person affected can suffer from dehydration. It is thus necessary that such people should drink plenty of water and increase their intake of fluids to prevent dehydration.
After having looked at the various symptoms of stomach infections, let’s look at those factors that can lead to this problem. Stomach infections are primarily a result of unhealthy eating.
Eating uncooked or raw food can lead to viral or bacterial stomach infection. Similarly, eating food from roadside vendors, especially during monsoons, can lead to a stomach infection.
Water too is a cause of stomach infection. Having contaminated water can lead to this infection and the infection can also be a result of eating in unhygienic utensils. Thus, proper hygiene is the primary step for preventing stomach infection.
Having contaminated or stale food or drinks can lead to food poisoning which in turn leads to sever stomach ache, diarrhea, and vomiting. Certain urinary tract infections can also lead to stomach pain and discomfort.
Along with the above causes, it has been found that excessive intake of spicy, oily, and fatty food items can also increase your vulnerability to stomach infections. Also, take care of your stress levels as stress and tension is a trigger for various kinds of stomach disorders.
