Causes and Symptoms of Herpes
Herpes is a disease which is highly infectious and is seen as a sexually transmitted disease. There are two kinds of herpes infections- simplex herpes characterized by sores and blisters around the mouth region, and genital herpes which leads to sores around the genitals. This article will throw light on some of the common causes and symptoms of herpes.
As mentioned above, herpes is a highly infectious disease and is often spread through sexual or skin-to-skin contact. Kissing is one cause of the spread of simplex herpes and it leads to formation of fever blisters near the mouth region.
However, using infected towel or clothes do not lead to the spread of herpes as it is body and skin contact only that causes spread of this infectious disease.
Along with the above given causes, it has been found that there are certain factors that make a person vulnerable to the outbreak of herpes. These factors include genital infections, excessive stress, poor immunity, and excessive alcohol abuse amongst others.
After having looked at some of the main causes of herpes, let’s look at its symptoms. If you are affected by herpes, then in initial days you’ll find some sores and blisters near your mouth and your genitals. Over a couple of days, these blisters transform into open sores and ulcers.
As mentioned above, blisters and sores can be formed around the genital regions. Thus, if lesions occur inside the vagina, then they can lead to pain and vaginal discharge. They can also lead to pain and discomfort during urination. Many times, such sores and ulcers are itchy.
Along with the above given symptoms, herpes can also cause symptoms like fever, body ache, lower back pain, general weakness, and fatigue. There are also some people who suffer from herpes but don’t display any visible symptoms.
After having looked at the various causes and symptoms of herpes, one should take the necessary steps to prevent oneself from such infectious diseases.
