Cancer Prevention Tips

July 28, 2009

breastThe word ‘cancer’ itself brings goose bumps on our skins. It is a dreaded term but unfortunately more and more people are becoming victims of it. This article will provide you with some simple tips that can help in cancer prevention.

A change in lifestyle can help you prevent yourself from cancer. Lead a healthy lifestyle, have a healthy and a nutritious diet, exercise regularly, remain active, keep your weight under control and de-stress yourself. These simple steps will help you lead a healthy life where-in you are not only protected from cancer but also from various other problems.

Let’s look at these preventive steps in detail. To begin with diet, a healthy diet is one which provides your body with all the essential nutrients. To prevent yourself from cancer, especially from cancers of colon, esophagus, and stomach, you should have a diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

You should avoid excessive intake of sugary food items and drinks and also limit your calories intake to maintain a healthy weight. Also, avoid intake of processed meat and also limit your intake of salt.

If you are in a habit of smoking and drinking, then you must give up this habit to prevent yourself from cancer. This is because the risk of cancers like those of mouth, throat, lungs, stomach, and kidney increases if you smoke, drink or use tobacco. You should also ensure that you are not a passive smoker as inhaling smoke too increases the risk of cancer.

You need to aim to achieve an ideal weight to reduce the risk of cancer. Thus, exercise regularly and keep yourself active.

Along with the above tips, you should also protect your skin from the harmful UV rays to prevent skin cancer.

Thus, follow the above given cancer prevention tips to lead a healthy life.
