November 21, 2008

How would you feel when you hear that eating your favorite dark chocolate not only helps satisfy your taste, but also helps you remain healthy? Surprised? After all, we never tend to associate taste with health. However, cocoa beans are considered as super food due to the various benefits they provide to our overall health. However, eating raw cocoa beans is the best way to gain direct benefits of pure cocoa. Given below are some reasons why cocoa beans are considered as a super food.

Whenever depressed, be it due to any reason, breakup or failure, consume cocoa beans. This is because cocoa beans are natural anti-depressants as they contain neurotransmitters associated with promotion of healthy mood. They thus help to lighten up your mood along with helping you overcome depression in a natural way. If you are not convinced by the mood enhancing feature of cocoa beans, you will now be when you will hear that cocoa is linked with healthy cardiovascular system. Research indicates that cocoa beans can help reduce or control the levels of “bad” cholesterol in our bloodstream while raising the “good” cholesterol (HDL) levels. They thus promote healthy heart. Moreover, cocoa beans are also rich in natural antioxidants which in turn help in prevention against cancers, strokes and blood clots. These antioxidants are also associated with promotion of healthy cholesterol levels in the body thereby preventing or at least reducing heart attacks to a great extent. In addition, scientists claim that flavanols present in cocoa beans can help maintain healthy brain functioning. Thus, cocoa beans are healthy and beneficial for the overall health and well being of a person. However, if you are consuming cocoa through dark chocolates, then choose the darkest chocolate and also eat in moderation. Thus, eat intelligently and stay healthy and happy.
