A baby’s skin is very tender and sensitive which requires extra care and protection to protect it from external ailments and to keep it in healthy condition. Being extremely sensitive, baby’s skin is easily affected by even small irritants leading to rashes and burns. The best way to treat and take care of baby’s skin is through natural products which provide gentle yet effective relief from minor ailments along with aiding in maintaining the natural softness and glow of baby’s skin.

Many parents tend to place their babies under sunlight to get the maximum benefit of vitamin D. However, one need not expose babies to direct sunlight because the baby’s skin does not produce melanin to protect the skin from sun’s harmful rays. This in turn leads to sunburns and all the problems associated with sun exposure including freckles and premature wrinkles. There are also some sunscreens available which are mild and which can be used to protect the child from harmful UV radiations. However, before applying such creams or lotions, one should test it against the child’s skin so that it does not lead to any allergic reaction.

One should expose the baby’s skin to only those products which are pure and natural and baby-friendly. While cleaning the baby with plain water is healthy in the first few weeks, one can also try some mild soap which contains olive, coconut or palm oil. After soaping a child, one should replenish his skin through some soothing oils or lotions. Any massaging lotion or cream for baby should be free of petrochemicals as they are irritants which harm the child’s sensitive skin. Moreover, many babies face the problem of diaper rash and to treat them one should try to expose the child’s bottom to fresh air.

Many of us must have heard the popularity of bubble baths but these bath products are harmful for children as these products are based on detergents which destroy beneficial bacteria and harm the baby’s acid mantle. Since a baby’s skin is tender and sensitive, one should use minimum artificial products and should instead adopt the healthy way of natural treatment.
