It is important to be aware of the various symptoms of alcohol withdrawal so that you can be prepared to effectively deal with it. First of all let’s understand what alcohol withdrawal implies.

Alcohol withdrawal refers to certain symptoms that occur as a result of your giving up alcohol consumption. When you suddenly give up drinking alcohol after years of consuming it, your body will react in certain ways and will show symptoms that can be mild to severe in magnitude.

Mild symptoms of alcohol withdrawal commonly include a feeling of nervousness, anxiety, increased heart beat and a general discomfort. The person who gives up alcohol has a strong craving for it in the initial few days of withdrawal.

This urge for alcohol can make the person jerky, irritable, and uncomfortable. There are rapid emotional changes the struggling person goes through. Additionally, the person can also suffer from headaches and nausea as a part of alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

Loss of appetite, insomnia, and sweating are some other common alcohol withdrawal symptoms. In severe cases, alcohol withdrawal symptoms can include seizures and the person affected might also suffer from hallucinations, convulsions, and even black outs.

The person who plans to quit alcohol needs support of his friends and relatives to effectively overcome alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Also, you must get medical assistance if the withdrawal symptoms become severe and uncontrollable.
