About your nails

July 11, 2008

Do you know that even your nails can also reveal information about your health? Alternations in the appearance, texture and shape of your nails can indicate the underlying conditions of your health.

* Thickened nails may be a sign of psoriasis.
* Red nail may be a symptom of diabetes.
* Pale nail beds may be a symptom of anaemia.
* White nails suggest kidney disorder or co-related disease.

So, it becomes very essential that you take proper care of your nails and pamper them in most effective way. Here is some easy ways that you should keep in mind while pampering your nails.

If you too much fond of painting your nails, make sure you use nail paint remover as well as nail hardeners only once in a week. Using it more than often can damage the layers of your nails.

If you visit salons for getting your manicures and pedicures done, be certain that their manicures and pedicures tool kit is properly sterilized or not. If you not comfortable, ask them to use your own kit for the same purpose.

For trimming nails cut them straight across using a nail scissor or clipper. You can slightly round the tips of your nails but avoid filling nails into a shape which may make them prone to damage. If you find your nails difficult to trim, soak them in warm salt water for about five to six minutes and then try out the trimming again and get your desired shape of nails.

Cuticle is a seal between your nail and skin, so pay a god amount of attention and care to it. Gently push it back using an orange stick, but make sure you do this only when the cuticle is soft like after a shower or so.
