About common obsessive disorder

An OCD is a psychological disorder where certain recurrent thoughts or compulsive acts enter a person’s mind again and again.OCD is a very common psychiatrist conditions occurring in about 1 out of 30 people. It is very important to differentiate between OCD and obsessive compulsive personality disorder (OCPD). You might have obsessive thoughts or you might end up acting compulsive at times but that doesn’t make an OCD. There are number of people who suffer from mild obsessions but that does not prevent them from leading a normal and healthy life. But when you suffer from OCD problem, obsessive thoughts and behavior becomes a part of your daily life and causes distress. It also interferes in the activities of your daily routine, thus badly affecting your job as well as relationships.
There are number of factors that give way to this Condition. Factors can be related to biological, genetic or psychology. The lack of neurochemical called serotonin in the brain is the biological cause for OCD while past history of the condition in the family is the genetic factor.
Common obsessive thoughts from which a person suffers from in OCD are:
* Fear of being contaminated by germs
* Religious thoughts
* Sexually explicit thoughts as well as images
* Extreme superstitions
* Fear of losing the people that you love and care for
For dealing with this problem, it is very important to spend a quality time with the sufferer. He or she can meditate and practice yoga. Remember that social isolation is bad and can aggravate the OCD. So maintain a good network.
