About cataract
Do you know that Cataract is opacity of the clear, natural lens inside the eye generally due to progression of age? Just like graying of hair, one gets cataract with age. When this lens becomes opaque with ageing it does not permit the light to reach the retina causing poor visibility, known as cataract. A cataract can occur in either or both eyes and is seen in all if we live long enough.
Cataract causes gradual, progressive, painless decreases in clarity of vision. Other symptoms of cataract are complaint of a blurred vision, difficulty in driving, and not been able to read for long and frequent change of spectacle power. So if you are also suffering from the same symptoms, make sure you consult your eye care expert for sure. Some people may experience glare while looking at light and even double vision or diplopia. Mind it that if this ailment is left untreated, then it can lead to total blindness also. So take timely treatment for curing the problem of cataract.
The major cause of cataract is ageing. But other factors that aggravate this ailment are diabetes, indulgence in alcohol abuse, smoking. Also environmental factors like prolonged exposure to sunlight etc cause cataract problem in many people.
It is very important for you to take care of your eyes otherwise cataract can affect you in big way. Some easy ways that you can incorporate in your lifestyle for preventing cataract are taking daily diet rich in vitamin A contents. Doing yoga and performing exercises on daily basis keeps your eyes in a wonderful and healthy condition. But mind it, that the above factors cannot prevent the age-related cataract. Good control over diabetes and protection from UV rays can also help in delaying the onset of the cataract problem.
