Lets just straight start with the Telugu wedding rituals.
Kanyadaan
The father of the bride gives away his daughter by giving her hand into the groom’s hand. This is done while the priest enchants holy mantras.
The parents of the bride wash the feet of the groom. This is done for their belief that the groom is a form of God who has come to marry their daughter.
Jeerakalla-bellamu
A paste of jaggery and cumin seeds is applied on the hands of bride and the groom by each other. This ritual is called by the name of Jeerakalla –bellamu.
Madhuparkam
In this custom, the groom wears dhoti which is white in color and has red border. Likewise the bride wears a white sari with red border.
Sumangali
Ten women accompany the bride. These are called Sumangali. This is one of the Telugu wedding rituals in which small lamps are prepared with h the dough of sugar, milk and rice flour. When the lamps are lit by them, this signifies the combination of light and sweetness. These qualities form the basis o f her new wedding life. This is considered as an auspicious occasion.
MangalSutra tying
Till now, the couple is made to sit on the stage with a piece of cloth between them. After the prayers have been recited by the priest, the groom is asked to put two strings around the neck of the bride. These strings combined represent a MangalSutra.
The groom is asked to tie the magalsutra in three knots, one to represent their physical union, the second to signify their mental union and the third to signify their mental union.
Kanyadaan akshata
After the MangalSutra has been tie, the couple exchanges floral garlands. The people part of the ceremony blesses them by showering flowers and Akshata, which is yellow colored rice.
Sthaalipaakam
The bride is made to wear a toe ring by the groom in this ritual.
