Tamil weddings are known for their elaborative and meaningful rituals and customs. Every ritual seems to have significance to it. Let’s have a candid talk on post wedding Telugu rituals.

One post wedding Telugu ritual is Grihapravesha. This is common to all Hindu marriages. In this ritual, when the bride has been brought to his home by the groom after the wedding, they both are welcomed as a couple to the house.

Usually, the mother of the groom performs aarti of the couple in order to ward off any evil eye. Then the bride is asked to near the house by putting her right foot forward first.

Reception

This is a modern day celebration which includes feasting and dancing. This celebration is arranged from the groom’s side for all.

Katta Saddam

An interesting post wedding Telugu ritual in which, the gathering from the groom’s side leaves the wedding venue after the marriage which has been going on since two days. The bride leaves with them. They are given gifts in the form of coffee powder, pickles, appalm, etc.

Even coked meals in the form of tamarind rice, curd rice, coconut rice as well as lemon rice are sent with them as a packing.

Uniting the MangalSutra

On the sixteenth day of the wedding, two MangalSutra are tied together. It is believed that in sixteen days the bride becomes well acquainted with the groom and his family. Therefore, she is now a member of the family.

The unison of these two MangalSutra can be done by some elder women in the family. It may also be done by the groom himself. These are connected in such a way in order to avoid them clashing together. The bride bathed and wears a new sari before wearing this new united MangalSutra.
