Every ceremony under Sindhi wedding is a pompous affair. Here is a briefingof post wedding Sindhi rituals

Datar ritual

After the wedding is solemnized, the bride is welcomed in her new house. Drummers are called upon to play drums in order to mark the arrival of the couple to the house.

When the couple has entered into the house then a very sensitive ceremony is performed in which the parents of the groom wash the feet of their daughter in law.

Then the bride is asked to sprinkle milk droops in the entire home.

As she is doing so, her head is covered by her in-laws.

After all this, the bride puts a small amount of salt in her husband’s palm. The groom must return it to her without spilling any articling. This is carried out for three times.

Once she has done this with her husband, this ceremony is performed with other members of the family.

This tradition is called by the name of “Datar”.

The basic concept behind this ceremony is to let the bride get well mixed up with the groom and his family; just as the salt is believed to get mixed with the food and provide haracteristic flavor.

Chanar tradition

In the pre wedding Sindhi ritual, a ceremony y called by the name of “dev bethana” is performed where the dietyis installed.

In chanar tradition, this deity is removed (the stone grinder installed is removed) and by this the wedding in Sindhi tradition is believed to be completed.

Sataurah tradition

The last amongst the post wedding Sindhi rituals is the Sataurah tradition.

This is a tradition in which, after a few days of wedding, the bride and the groom visit bride`s paternal house for the first time post marriage. They are given gifts in the form of clothing, jewelry, sweets and wrapped presents.
