The ceremonies take days to complete even after the wedding pheras have been taken.
Marwadi marriages represent traditional rooting of marwadi people.
The elaborate usage of bright colors from décor to dresses can easily be observed.
Post wedding marwadi rituals hold immense significance in marwadi marriages.
Though the rituals are simple but they have never been ignored.
Even today, they are followed just as they were since the beginning.
Bidaai/Vidaai
It is a sentimental ceremony where the bride, after marriage, says her final goodbyes. She hugs all those dear to her including her childhood friends, brothers and sisters. The emotions are seen at their highest peak when she hugs her parents. Sometimes it becomes really difficult to ask the bride to take seat into the car with her groom.
When she finally joins her husband sitting in the car, she unveils herself only for him. At this point the groom gives her a piece of jewelry as a gift. A charming way to change her mood.
Griha pravesh
The official entry of newly-weds to their home is called Griha pravesh. The bride is welcomed by her mother-in–law at the entrance and aarti is performed. Then the bride is asked to push a pot of rice with her right foot and enter the home.
Pagelagni
This ceremony is especially performed to introduce the bride with all people in the family circle of the groom. The bride is still asked to remain unveiled. One by one she touches the feet of elder people in the family in order to seek their blessing for her new life. She touches their feet. She is given gifts or cash called Shagun.
Everyone who sees her gives her gifts in the form of jewelry, cash or clothing.
Post wedding marwadi rituals are celebrated with the same aristocracy as other marwadi marriage ceremonies.
