There are no elaborative postweddingmalayaleerituals. The ceremonies are common to other simple Hindu marriages.

Malayalee people have a very simplistic outlook in their loving and this is easily observable in their festivals, customs as well as rituals.

Here are simple post wedding malayalee rituals

Aarti ritual

When the bride has said all her goodbyes to her paternal house as well as to all her childhood friends and dear ones, she accompanies her groom to his house.

Here she is welcomed by mother of the groom and awaits the couple carrying a thaali of Aarti in her hand.

This thaali is decorated with colourful items. It has small containers that contain kumkum power paste, sandalwood paste, flowers and few rice grains.

The mother of the groom then performs the aarti, puts tilak on foreheads of both, showers flower petals and sprinkles few rice grains.

This is done in order to ward off any evil influence away from the couple.

Grihapravesha rituals

The bride is then asked by her mother in law to put her right step forward and enter the house. The newly wed bride is considered to be the form on goddess Lakhshmi. The entrance of the house may be decorated using rice power and water mixture with colors. This is called rangoli.

Kudivep ceremony

Another ceremony amongst other simple post wedding malayalee rituals is the Kudivep ceremony.

As the groom and the bride have entered the home by the ceremony of Grahpravesh, they walk the house which is lit by several earthen lamps; this is considered by a very auspicious thing to do. It is believed that by doing this the couple is blessed with good married life.

Later on, the relatives from the groom’s side that meet the bride give her gifts in the form of clothing and jewelry.
