Greek Salad
Greek salad is a nutritious dish that can be served as a side dish or as light meal. It is made up of juicy red tomatoes, sliced onion, cucumber, kalamata black olives, parsley etc and is enough for a meal. The fresh Greek salad may help you to keep your self cool while the environment is hot outside. It is very easy to make and is delicious too.
Tips to Make Greek Salad
1. Take three ripe and juicy tomatoes, one red onion, one half of a cucumber, one small green bell pepper, one small red bell pepper, one cup Kalamata black olives and one cubanelle pepper.
2. Peel the cucumber and remove its seeds and cut them in to bite sized pieces. If the tomatoes have thick skin, then peel it and cut it in to bite sized pieces. Remove the seeds of all bell peppers and cut them in to pieces. Cut all the vegetables in to bite sized pieces and place them in a large bowl. To this add half cup of fresh flat leaf parsley.
3. Add one teaspoon of dried oregano in to the bowl having chopped vegetables. To this add half teaspoon salt and two table spoon olive oil and mix them well.
4. Now top the salad with crumbled or sliced Greek feta cheese of about one fourth pound. Add one cup of kalamanta black olives along with the cheese and sprinkle one fourth teaspoon of oregano above the salad. Take care to crush the oregano in your palms before adding in to the salad.
5. Take the remaining one table spoon of olive oil mix it with one table spoon of water. Now drop this mixture over the salad. Instead of water you can use red wine vinegar also.
Your Greek salad is ready to serve. You can serve it as itself or with meal or with pita bread. The bread has to be blistered on a hot grill pan.
