Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment. Discipline is a refining fire by which talent becomes ability. “Many of life’s circumstances are created by three basic choices: the disciplines you choose to keep, the people you choose to be with; and the laws you choose to obey.”
Discipline is not about punishing when the child does not follow the rules set, rather it is what you can do to encourage good behavior. Discipline is often mistaken with punishment or teaching it forcefully. In fact, it should enable your child to differentiate right from wrong and to respect others. Endorsing discipline in a child is not one day effort, rather it’s an ongoing process .
Effective discipline tips are:-
1) Be consistent in the methods of disciplining your child and the punishment you choose.
2) Try to teach your child yours eye language, so that when you are sitting among friends your child should be able to make out what wrong he has done and you are unhappy about that.
3) Always reward your child for his good behavior.
4) If you punish your child for his bad behavior, explain him the reason of his punishment and how can he improve that.
Teaching discipline to kids requires lot of patience and every time you need to adopt new methods. Don’t worry if your method of teaching discipline is not working. It doesn’t mean you have failed. It just means that you should try other methods. All children are different and will respond to different disciplinary strategies. Try to avoid physical punishment ,yelling and screaming because it can reflect bad attitude towards them. Sometimes yelling and screaming gives rise to stubborn behavior in children which is rather more harmful. A gentle approach and stern language can make a difference in your child’s behavior.
