Prawn Dishes : Bengali Style
Spicy Prawn Curry Recipe
Serving : 4 Persons

INGREDIENTS :
1 kg of medium sized prawns ( cleaned , shelled & deveined )
2 tsp of red chili powder
1 tsp of turmeric
1 tsp of pepper powder
4 tbsp of mustard oil
1 tsp of mustard seeds
1 tsp of coriander powder
3 small onions , finely chopped
3 tsp ginger-garlic paste
2 tomatoes, chopped
6 green chilies , chopped
1 tsp of cumin powder
3 tbsp of chopped coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Method :
Marinate the prawns with chili powder , turmeric , pepper powder and salt for 20 minutes . Keep aside . Heat oil in a frying pan , add mustard seeds , coriander seeds and when they start spluttering add the onions and fry until golden brown . Then add ginger-garlic paste and fry some more . To this add the tomatoes , green chilies , salt and keep stirring occasionally till the gravy turns thick . Now add the prawns and simmer for 5 minutes stirring occasionally . Add cumin powder and cook for a minute . After removing from heat garnish with the chopped coriander leaves and serve with hot steamed rice .
Prawn Malai Curry
Serving : 4 Persons

Cooking Time : 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS :
1 kg of medium sized prawns ( cleaned , shelled & deveined )
2 tsp of red chili powder
1 tsp of turmeric
4 tbsp of mustard oil
3 small onions , made into a fine paste
3 tsp ginger paste
6 green chilies made into a paste
1 1/2 cup of coconut milk
1 tsp of garam masala ( cardamom , cinamon , cloves ground together )
2 bay leaves
Salt to taste
Method :
Heat the oil in a frying pan and add the bay leaves and the garam masala . When the spluttering ends add the onion and ginger paste to the oil and fry well on medium flame . As the onion becomes tender add turmeric , red chili powder and salt and fry well for some more time . When the oil starts to separate from the spices add the prawns t and mo the gravy and mix well . After having fried for some more time add the coconut milk and let simmer for another 5 to 7 minutes . When the gravy thickens remove from heat .
Serve with piping hot rice .
