Natural Home Remedies for Puffy Eyes

Puffy eyes are the swollen eyes with puffy eye lids. This is because of the accumulation of fluid in the eye. There might be irritations and sometimes the eye turns red. There might be difficulty in closing and opening the eyes. Here are some natural remedies that you can practice by yourself at your home.

Remedies for Puffy Eyes

1. Drink at least 8- 10 glasses of water daily. Otherwise your body will try to store more water as a defense mechanism towards dehydration and this may lead to puffy eyes.

2. Use vegetables like potato, cucumber, strawberry etc to treat your puffy eyes. Place the sliced vegetables under your eyes which in turn may help you to reduce the puffiness.

3. Take cold milk or ice cubes in a bowl and soak cotton wool in the liquid. Then keep this cold cotton wool over your puffy eyes. Change the cotton every time when it gets warm. Repeat this process up to 15 minutes which not only reduce the puffiness but also brightens your eyes.

4. Use warm tea bags of ordinary tea or red raspberry leaf tea over the closed eye lids. Papaya tea bag and rose hip tea bags are the most favorite tea bags recommended for this purpose. If tea bags are not available you can also use cotton pads dipped in tea for this. A half cut fresh fig if placed over this bags will remove your puffiness in a magical manner. Tea bags will not only reduce the puffiness but also reduces the pain.

5. You can also reduce the eye soreness by bathing the eyelid with fennel infusions or elder flower water.

6. Boil one table spoon of water and add one drop of lavender essential oil and lemon essential oil to it. Use this water to bath the eye from outside. This may reduce the puffy eyes.

7. Use the refrigerated witch hazel to compress or squeeze the eyelids. Be careful to not to penetrate with hazel ingredients in to the eye. This may help you to reduce the puffiness of your eyes.

8. Reduce your salt intake as the salt will have a tendency to store more water in the body.
