Is Fasting Dangerous to Health
Fasting is the process of limiting your food intake. Fasting has some benefits which make people to take fasting. The most important point is that fasting helps to detoxify your body. The daily intake of chemicals and toxins through food and from the surroundings get deposited in your body along with the fat. While fasting the body will use these stored fats for producing energy and by which the toxins will be released and expelled from the body.
Dangers of Fasting
If you fast for one week then certainly you will be weak and will be devoid of nutrients. Before starting your fast it will be better to consult with the doctor as it may cause hidden problems to your health.
It may leads to ketosis which is a state in which your body uses the parts of the internal organs to feed itself and to produce energy for you. The low level of sugar in the blood makes the body to deplete nutrients from the liver, kidney and muscles and makes them inefficient in eliminating the byproducts of metabolism.
If the fasting you adopted is devoid of water and food then definitely you will have dehydration problems and your blood sugar levels may go down severely. If you are doing this once in a week then it won’t create much problem but it is advisable to consult the doctor first. While fasting, you may be depleting more of your muscles rather than the fats in your body.
Fasting at times will affect the immune system of your body. Nutrients are essential for the proper functioning of the immune system. Immune system has to build antibodies, proteins etc against the disease causing organisms in order to protect us from diseases. It you are not supplementing the body with enough nutrients then the immune system will fail to work efficiently and you will be at the risk of getting diseases.
Fasting may also leads to a number of health problems like anemia, dizziness, body aches etc. It will be impossible for the body to differentiate starving and the intentional fasting.
