How To Get Rid Of Dandruff

dandruff Have dandruff? Don’t worry you’re not the only one. One out of two individuals worldwide has faced or is dealing with the same ordeal as yours. Dandruff as embarrassing as it can be is an extremely common problem. So ease up.

How does dandruff occur? The skin covering your body from the scalp to the toes on your feet sheds every single day. The human body replenishes the upper layer of skin within a 28-day cycle, without our even noticing it.

Some microorganisms like fungi and bacteria live off the various oils our skin secretes. A fungus called Malassezia preys on the scalp commonly and feeds on the secretions of the hair follicles present in the scalp. Dandruff occurs when this fungus spreads widely causing more irritation on the scalp and the dead skin begins to shed rapidly. Whereas the shedding process would have ordinarily taken up to a month the intrusion of the Malassezia fungus causes it to occur within 7-10 days. The oil produced by our hair follicles makes dead skin cells cling together, which in turn becomes dandruff. Researchers are still trying to figure out the facts that lead to the phenomenon of these Malassezia fungi

Despite endless efforts to rid oneself of it Dandruff always finds it way back and never fails to embarrass us. But we can control its recurrence by taking proper care of our hair and scalp. The common and easiest way to curb the occurrence is daily shampooing.

In case of acute dandruff wherein even after frequent washing it still shamelessly persists its time to switch to an anti-dandruff shampoo. The best anti- dandruff shampoos have active ingredients like ketoconazole, pyrithione and selenium sulfide. Try using regular shampoo in rotation with these shampoos so that your scalp doesn’t become immune to the anti- dandruff one.

For best results use the desired shampoo twice. During the first wash the flakes, oil and dirt gets washed off. And the second wash allows the scalp and hair to soak in the protecting ingredients.

There are also some homemade remedies to prevent dandruff from recurring . One of the best-considered remedies to dandruff is vinegar. Take 2 teaspoons of vinegar and mix with 6 teaspoons of water. Apply this mixture to your scalp and wrap your hair in a towel. This should be done before going to bed. Repeat this application in the morning after which you can rinse it out with water. The vinegar will not linger as the odor wears off quickly.

Avoid scratching the clumps of dandruff or you will wound your scalp and cause further irritation.

Dandruff is a social faux pas but it is indeed controllable. So with regular care and management you too can enjoy healthy hair.
