How to Get Rid Of Creaky Doors
Every time when we open or close the door, the creaky noise irritates a lot. This problem is mainly associated with old doors. With the passage of time the hinges of the doors wear out and lose their lubricants. The hinges need to be lubricated and well oiled. Even the new doors make the creaky noise in the rainy days. Too much exposure to the water washes away the lubricants of the doors. Due to this, the doors make squeaky noise in the rainy season. You must have noticed that in the areas with heavy rainfall and snowfall, people keep greasing their doors now and then. The main reason behind greasing is to maintain their doors against the rain and snow.
Ways to fix the creaky doors:
Petroleum-based lubricant: The creaky noise can be fixed with the usage of petroleum-based lubricant. The procedure involves the following steps:
1. Open the door.
2. Apply the petroleum-based lubricant on the hinges of your creaky door.
3. Now close your door and open your door again. Repeat the opening and the closing of the door several times.
4. If the door is still making the squeaky noise, close your door and apply some lubricant on the hinges.
5. Open the door and again close it. Repeat this few times.
Elbow grease: greasing the door also stops the squeaky noise.
1. The pins of the hinges are removed one by one.
2. The hinge and the pins are cleaned with a cloth.
3. Apply the grease inside the hinge.
4. Replace the hinge.
5. Repeat the above steps for the other hinges of door.
6. Open the door and close it. Repeat it a few times.
Oiling: Even oiling your doors at proper intervals of time will solve the problem of creaky noise. Oiling is the best and the easiest way. It is the least time-consuming method and is very economical.
If the doors are properly lubricated in time, they will open and close smoothly.
