Effects of Alcohol on Children in a Household
Wittingly or unwittingly, in families where there are drunken fathers or any relatives, it is the children who become a pawn of torture. It is a fact that in some cultures, it is not even considered as a problem but something that falls under the natural order of the world.
What Happens To Children Victim To Alcohol Abuse?
1. Loss Of Childhood- Childhood is a state of innocence and being abused by an alcoholic father or anyone close to family spells disaster. Te child turns vulnerable and forgets to enjoy the life God has gifted him. Instead he/she is in constant fear of getting tortured again and again.
2. Emotional Loss- If the child is the introvert type, then be sure of that person becoming a emotional wreck. Instead of getting all the love and attention to make him a good human being, it schisms the child’s mind. The child is blamed for all the misfortunes falling on the family. In other words, the child is reduced to a punching bag, helpless and vulnerable. There are also the chances of the child bearing grudges against the abuser. They can steel themselves up to take revenge and if not caught, turn to crime.
3. Career- There is only a handful of adults who have managed to steer out of this type of situation and make a career for them. Often it happens that the child stops going to school or even if sent, performs poorly which degenerates more with time.
4. Carrying It Forward- An alcohol abused child can grow up to treat his/her family like they were treated in their childhood. It is like a cycle in their mind they intend to continue. It becomes a way of taking their revenge upon the culprit. The successors suffer without their fault.
If you know somebody who happens to be a victim of such abuse, get immediate help and save the child from inhumane environment. There is nothing bigger than humanity.
