Tattooing has reached the pinnacle of popularity at this time. But there are some factors which should be taken into account before going for the painful process of tattooing. And it is very important to get the tattooing done from a reputed parlor for full safety. One may also enquire about the quality of ink the parlor is using. Statistics have shown that many people have got diseases on their skin because of tattooing. Tattoo inks are categorized under cosmetics and thus it is not verified by any food and drug authority. And the inks which are used for tattooing are not approved for injecting it under the skin. Thus the risk of tattooing remains on the ink that is used for the process.

There have been reported cases of various health problems caused due to tattoos. The most common among them are skin infections. Bacterial infections are quite common for people with tattoos. The skin may swell and get red and even drain pus from it. There is some serious anti biotic resistant skin infections which may occur if the proper guidelines of disinfection are not followed while drawing the tattoo. Some of these anti biotic resistant infections may also cause pneumonia, infection in blood or even necrotizing fasciitis.

Some other risks of tattooing are blood borne diseases, allergic reactions, Skin disorders and MRI complications. Tattooing may even cause HIV positive. If the equipment is not properly sterilized after use it may get contaminated and infect other people with serious contagious diseases like HIV positive, Other infections which can be borne by blood are hepatitis B, hepatitis C, tuberculosis and tetanus. It is very important to get a tattoo done from a well known place to avoid any kind of contamination. Allergic reactions are quite common for people with tattoos. The red ink causes irritation and allergy on the skin. This allergy may appear years after the tattooing is done. During MRI tests, the patient may have burning sensation and swelling of skin because of tattoos.

Even though there are risks people have accepted this ancient art with ease and comfort. Thus the modern society is wearing this art form regardless of the risks that they may face for having it.
