Sperm count plays vital role in male fertility. If you have low sperm count you won’t be able to make your wife pregnant. Low sperm count doesn’t mean that you lose sex desire. It should also not be misunderstood as erectile dysfunction problem.

In this case you may get erection, you may enjoy your sexual act to full extent but you won’t be able to make your wife pregnant. However there are some people who suffer from low sperm count as well as erectile dysfunction due to various reasons.

When you ejaculate sperm during intercourse, the number of spermatozoa during ejaculation needs to be nearly forty million. Not only that, even your semen volume needs to be at least 2ml and spermatozoa concentration is required to be minimum 20 million/ml.

Well, now it is matter of concern to know what causes low sperm count so that you can prevent it.

Heat is one of the biggest factors that causes low sperm count. Sperm is produced in your testicles and sperm is destroyed if it gets heat more than required. Many people keep laptops on their laps and work.

Laptops emit heat which is not suitable for healthy sperms. Thus the heat destroys sperms and their quality which causes low sperm count. Therefore protect your testicles from extra heat. Also do not wear tight pants and do not expose your testis to any kind of radiation and avoid hot bath.

Stress is another cause of low sperm count because it interferes with your GnRH hormone which eventually affects your sperm count. Wrong techniques of sexual act also reduce sperm count. Men who use lubricants along with condoms lose their fertility to some extent.

Addiction to cocaine, marijuana or smoking also reduces your sperm count. In fact tobacco used in any form reduces your sperm count. Malnutrition also reduces sperm count. Men who do not eat foods rich in zinc, vitamin C, selenium, folic acids, omega 3 fatty acids etc suffer from low sperm count.

Some severe diseases such as diabetes, prostrate cancer etc also affect your sperm count. Lack of exercise and physical activities affects sperm count a lot.

Some of the causes of low sperm count are temporary and can be cured by following healthy life style. Exercise regularly, avoid unhealthy foods and smoking to increase your sperm count.
