Sony Mobile Communications added a new member to their already growing and popular Android powered Xperia family of Smartphones. The new Smartphone has been given a catchy name – Sony Xperia Sola. The Xperia Sola will be known as Sony Xperia Sole in the Italian market and as Sony Xperia MT27i in the Chinese market.

The Sony Xperia Sola is definitely a premium class product with built in Sony technology and entertainment services.

However, the highlight of this product is Sony’s unique floating touch navigation technology which allows users to navigate and browse the web without actually touching the screen. The user has to make a gentle tap only when a selection is made.

Look & Feel

The Xperia sola is a rectangular shaped smartphone with sharp edges. The product is good looking and will be available in black, white and red colors. The product has an onscreen QWERTY keyboard and touch screen capability.

The Xperia sola weighs around 107 grams and the dimension measurements include the following – 116 mm x 59 mm x 9.9 mm

Display

The phone has a 3.7 inch Touch screen Reality Display that is covered with scratch resistant glass and is powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine. The TFT display offers 16M color options and a native resolution of 854 x 480 pixels.

Currently the phone will be launched on Android 2.3 OS. However, Sony offers a promise to run the phone on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in 2012 itself.
