SPF 50 is the minimum that should be used.
Sunglasses and hats
Sunglasses will help you protect your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun and also prevent tanning around the eye area. The same goes for hats that will save your hair, forehead and the face from sun light. Also the hats and sunglasses available in the market nowadays will give you an extra bit of credit by making you look more stylish this summer!
Reapplication at regular intervals
Be sensible enough to reapply the sunscreens and other lotions that you use from time to time if you are under the sun for a long period of time. Those with properties like water and sweat resistance might stay for a little longer but will definitely need a reapplication after a couple of hours.
Wear sensible clothes
It is summer and it is the time for skirts, dresses and hot pants, but remember the more the skin is exposed to sun rays the more it will tan. So if you don’t want negative repercussions then chose to wear clothes that hide the maximum skin.
Although all of us try and take the maximum amount of preventative measures it is possible a lot of times that it does not work out. Here are some of the simplest home remedies that will help you from removing tan without an inch of side effect.
Rose water mixture
Apply a mixture of rose water, cucumber juice and lemon juice on face for at least a week to get that glowing complexion free from tan.
A simple face mask made out of honey and lemon juice is a good remedy for tanned skin.
Baking soda can work wonders
Just use some baking soda to rub areas that was exposed to the sun rays. This can be done while taking a shower. Instant difference will be noticed. Few drops of your favorite aromatic oil mixed with the baking soda will leave you smelling heavenly. This remedy is not recommended for those who have sensitive skin.
Use of pumice stone, loofah
Areas that are already a little rough can be cleaned by using a pumice stone or a loofah. These areas include the underarms, knees and elbows.
Make a smooth blend of turmeric, lemon juice and raw milk and apply to the tanned body parts for lighter complexion.
Mix oats well with buttermilk and apply it on the skin for a smoother and soother skin. You can even wash face with buttermilk for a week to get good results.
Use potato juice to remove tan. Not only it helps in eliminating tan but also solve problems of pimples and blackheads for oily skin.
Gram flour pack
Mix in gram flour, curd and lemon juice smoothly and apply it on face and neck areas to remove the dullness and darkening resulting from tan.
Benefit of coconut
Coconut water as well as the coconut both is beneficial when it comes to tan. It makes the skin soft.
Either you can use the juice of basil leaves or that of the orange peel, both helps in reducing tan from the skin and makes it look fairer. Lettuce juice also works well if used with face packs.
A smooth mixture of the tomato pulp and curd will exfoliate as well as lighten the skin tone. Make sure you apply it at least for 15-20 minutes for successful results.
Chick pea pack
Just mix chick pea powder with water and make a smooth batter. Use this on face for 15-20 minutes and wash off. It will definitely lighten the tan.
Aloe Vera paste
A combination of crushed aloe vera leaves and lemon juice is one of the easiest ways to cure the problem of tanning. It not only cleans the tan but also nurtures the skin with essential vitamins.
Wow! Sounds tempting! Just apply the dosa batter all over the affected areas and leave it to dry. Once done, wash it off with rose water for better results.
Pulp of cabbage
Apply mashed cabbage on tanned skin for at least 15-20 minutes and rinse with cold water to see a brighter, smoother skin. Continuing the procedure for a week will give you great outcome.
These therapies will definitely help you remove the tan from your skin and get back that beautiful look. But it’s not magic! Applying it only once, won’t really help the situation. All you have to do is follow any of the above procedures on a regular basis to see its true effects.
